Covenant University welcomed a delegation from the Durban University of Technology (DUT), South Africa, in collaboration with the British Council, to discuss potential collaborations focusing on addressing Youth Employability and Climate Change challenges in Africa.

Led by the Vice-Chancellor of Covenant University, Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo, the meeting highlighted Covenant University's commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and producing employable graduates. Professor Adebayo expressed concern over the high rate of youth unemployment in Africa, emphasizing the urgent need for innovative solutions.

The DUT delegation, comprising Professor Oludayo Olugbara, Professor Sunday O. Ojo, Ms. L Brady, and Ms. Moodley Ugeshin, shared insights on creating platforms to tackle the dual challenges of Climate Change and unemployment. They emphasized the importance of empowering youth to take responsibility and contribute actively to shaping a sustainable future.

Professor Olugbara proposed involving students in practical work beyond classrooms, allowing them to apply classroom knowledge to real-world challenges. The team also expressed interest in collaborating with Covenant University's Department of Computer and Information Sciences on Natural Languages Research.

The meeting was attended by Covenant University's Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olujide Adekeye; Registrar, Mrs. Regina Tobi-David; and Dean of the College of Science and Technology, Professor Timothy Anake, among others.

The partnership between Covenant University and DUT aims to create impactful solutions, fostering innovation, and empowering the youth to combat Climate Change and unemployment in Africa.
