EKSU Team Clinches 1st Place at 2025 National Young Engineers Innovation Competition
A team of young engineers from the Department of Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, has emerged first place in the 2025 National Young Engineers Innovation Competition, organised by the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).
A team of young engineers from the Department of Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, has emerged first place in the 2025 National Young Engineers Innovation Competition, organised by the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).

The award-winning team, led by Engr. Kehinde Abiodun Dare, MNSE, alongside fresh graduates Ajayi Oluwapelumi Oluwatosin, Owoyomi Mercy Opeyemi, and Ologuntoye Ayomide Abidemi, impressed the judges with their innovative project: “Design and Implementation of a Solar-Powered Smart Walking Stick for Visually Impaired Persons.” The project stood out for its ingenuity, practical application, and social impact, offering a transformative solution for visually impaired individuals.
The prestigious award was presented by the President and Chairman in Council of the NSE, Engr. Margaret Aina Oguntala, FNSE, on Tuesday, 2nd December 2025, during the opening ceremony of the 2025 International Conference, Exhibition and Annual General Meeting of the Nigerian Society of Engineers at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, Oyo State.
The team expressed profound gratitude to Prof. J. B. Ayodele, Vice-Chancellor of EKSU, Engr. Prof. I. B. Oluwafemi, Dean of Engineering, and Engr. Dr. A. I. Fasiku, Head of Department, Computer Engineering, for their exemplary leadership and unwavering support, which fostered an enabling environment for this remarkable achievement.
