Elulu of Mopa Leads Ceremony for New Lecture Theatre at College of Education Technical, Mopa
His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Muyiwa Ibeun, inaugurated the construction of a 150-seat lecture theatre at the College of Education Technical, Mopa, the first TETFUND project since the institution's relocation.
The College of Education Technical, Mopa, today hosted His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Muyiwa Ibeun, the Elulu of Mopa and Chairman of the Mopamuro Traditional Council of Chiefs, along with other distinguished chiefs, for the groundbreaking ceremony of a new lecture theatre. This marks the first Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) project since the institution was relocated from Kabba to Mopa.
The higher institution was moved to Mopa following the establishment of Kogi State University in Kabba during the tenure of former Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello. Oba Ibeun expressed his gratitude to the former governor for facilitating this relocation.
In his speech, Oba Ibeun also acknowledged the Federal Government, TETFUND under President Bola Tinubu, and the current administration of Kogi State Governor Alhaji Usman Ododo for their ongoing support in ensuring the smooth relocation and establishment of the college in Mopa. He commended their role in providing a conducive environment for the institution’s takeoff.
The Provost of the College, Dr. Victoria Jagboro, appreciated the unwavering support from Oba Ibeun and the entire Mopa Traditional Council. She announced that the 150-seat lecture theatre, funded for full furnishing, is expected to be completed by September. Dr. Jagboro lauded the community’s role in supporting the institution’s growth, ensuring the staff and students enjoy a full welfare package.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by notable figures including the Otunba of Mopa, Oba Saul Olojo, the Balogun of Mopa, Oba Clarence Olafemi, and the Oba of Okeguru-Mopa, Oba Williams Olushola Agbaje. The Baale of Ikeji, Chief Phillip Shola Mofobi, was also in attendance.
Students of the institution expressed their appreciation to Oba Ibeun and the Mopa community for the hospitality and support they have received, highlighting the monarch’s sponsorship of scholarships for over 100 students in the school.
The ceremony marked a significant milestone in the institution’s development and its future impact on education in the region.
