In a strategic move aimed at bolstering the educational landscape in Enugu State, Governor Peter Mbah has officially inaugurated the newly constituted Governing Council of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), aligning with the provisions of Section 6 (1) of the ESUT Establishment Law. Emphasizing the pivotal role of education in combating poverty, Governor Mbah underscored his administration's commitment to advancing the state's academic infrastructure.
The newly appointed council, chaired by Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa, comprises esteemed individuals including Prof. Ikenna Chukwu, Engr. James Ifeanyi, Mrs. Gladys Okoro, Hon. Chinedu Onu, and Dr. Eric Oluedo. Governor Mbah expressed confidence in the council members' competence, networks, and experience, foreseeing their substantial contributions to the university's growth and the state's development agenda.
Addressing the council during the inauguration ceremony, Governor Mbah emphasized the importance of a harmonious relationship between the council and the university management, urging both entities to collaborate closely to fulfill the institution's objectives. He urged the council to exercise effective oversight, particularly in financial management, while supporting the university's endeavors to excel.
