Federal Polytechnic Ilaro Students Secure Third Place in 2023 ICAN Accountancy Challenge

In a surprising turn of events, the 2023 Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria Accountancy (ICAN) Challenge witnessed an unexpected contender making its mark in the top three. Two students pursuing a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy at the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro in Ogun State, namely Oluwasegun Diyan and Nafisat Abdulganiyu, achieved a remarkable third place in the prestigious 2023 ICAN Challenge Nigeria.

Notably, Federal Polytechnic Ilaro was the sole polytechnic to advance to the final round among the top nine participating institutions, outshining even the esteemed universities that took part. The final round of the competition is scheduled to be held in the nation's capital, Abuja, at a date to be announced by ICAN. This last stage will be conducted in person, adding to the anticipation surrounding the event.

Here's a breakdown of the scores achieved by the participating institutions: Obafemi Awolowo University led the pack with a score of 71%, closely followed by Ahmadu Bello University with 64%. Surprisingly, Federal Polytechnic Ilaro tied with renowned universities, including the University of Lagos, University of Benin, Igbinedion University Okada, with each attaining a score of 56%. Other institutions in the competition included Nnamdi Azikiwe University, the University of Maiduguri, and Benue State University, all sharing a score of 52%.

The ICAN Accountancy Challenge Nigeria is an intellectual competition co-organized by ICAN and O.J. Inspiration Limited.
