Federal University Gusau Matriculates 2,865 Students for 2022/2023 Academic Year

In its 10th matriculation ceremony for the 2022/2023 academic year, the Federal University Gusau (FUGUS) in Zamfara State welcomed 2,865 new students. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Muazu Abubakar, addressed the matriculants, emphasizing the importance of gratitude and responsibility in their academic journey.

Professor Muazu expressed gratitude to the Almighty for the opportunity given to the students to pursue higher education. He highlighted the university's commitment to excellence, peace, high moral values, and its stance against cultism and other vices since its establishment in 2013.

Addressing the matriculating students, he stated, "The future of this nation is in your hands; therefore, you must be ready to take it and have the obligation to be excellent ambassadors of our country." Professor Muazu outlined the challenges students may face between matriculation and convocation, emphasizing the importance of hard work, adherence to university rules, personal discipline, and respect for authorities.

He issued a stern warning against engaging in examination malpractice, cultism, sexual harassment, theft, and drug abuse. The penalties for such vices are clearly outlined in the student handbook, which he urged every student to study diligently.

In light of recent security concerns, Professor Muazu advised students to be vigilant and security-conscious, urging them to report any suspicious activities to security agents or university authorities. He reassured the university's commitment to the safety of its students, particularly those recently abducted, stating that security agencies are working diligently for their prompt rescue.
