FG Begins Second Payment of N44,000 Arrears to NYSC Corps Members

The Federal Government has resumed the disbursement of arrears to members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), initiating the second tranche payment of N44,000 owed to corps members nationwide.

The latest round of payments began on Wednesday and is being released in batches. This follows the initial payment made on June 3, 2025.

These arrears are part of the newly approved N77,000 monthly allowance for corps members, a commitment the government made earlier this year.

During the Batch A 2025 Pre-Mobilisation Workshop held on April 5 in Abuja, NYSC Director-General Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu stated that both current and recently discharged corps members would benefit from the allowance increase.

“Once funds are released to us to offset the arrears, we will pay them. Even our corps members who passed out recently will benefit. We have their bank details,” Nafiu assured.

He emphasized the government’s dedication to fulfilling its promises and urged Nigerians to remain calm, affirming that the administration is responsive to citizens’ needs.

The second tranche covers the period from July 2024 to March 2025, following months of frustration among corps members due to delayed payments.

Several current corps members who spoke to GistReel anonymously confirmed they had received the unexpected credit alerts.
