FG Vows To Go After Contractors Of N5bn Failed BUK Solar Project

The Minister of Education, Prof Tahir Mamman on Friday said the federal Government will go after contractors who installed the failed 7.1 megawatts solar hybrid power plant at the Bayero University, Kano.

Mamman said they would bring the might of government to ensure they are been accounted for.

The minister stated this while inspecting the solar plant site on Friday after commissioning four structures – Centre for Teaching and learning, micro-teaching Laboratory, Department of Anatomy (faculty of Veterinary Medicine), and center for reading research development funded by the University and TETFUND at the new site of the University.

He said the solar project is supposed to be a succor to its immediate community to enhance research and studies but has failed having spent almost N5 billion taxpayers fund.

Mamman said, “Somebody can’t just come here and put so much money and there is no results or outcome from it. We are going to chase up those who handle this project to ensure we get value for our money.
