Former FUTA Sports Director, Appointed to Federation of Africa University Sports Subcommittee

Emmanuel Amoo, a 500-level Mining Engineering student and former Director of Sports at the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), has been appointed to the Students Subcommittee of the Federation of Africa University Sports (FASU).

Former FUTA Sports Director, Appointed to Federation of Africa University Sports Subcommittee

 Emmanuel Amoo, a 500-level Mining Engineering student and former Director of Sports for the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) Students Union, has been appointed to the Students Subcommittee of the Federation of Africa University Sports (FASU). This prestigious appointment was confirmed by Peninah Kabenge, an official of the Uganda-based continental body.

Amoo’s journey in sports administration began at FUTA, where he demonstrated exceptional organizational and leadership skills. His tenure as the Faculty of Engineering's Director of Sports led to his election as the FUTA Students' Union Director of Sports under the TenTen-led administration. During his time, Amoo managed several high-profile sporting events, including the 9th Awopegba Football Tournament, FUTA Eagles Basketball League, FUTA Footvolley League, and the FUTASU FA Cup 2023. Notably, the FUTASU FA Cup winner was congratulated by former Nigerian Super Eagles player, Mikel Obi, adding to the event's prestige.

Beyond FUTA, Amoo has been an active volunteer for the Nigeria University Games Association (NUGA) and honed his skills further during an internship with the Nigeria Football Federation’s Media and Communications Department under Mr. Olajire. He also served as the project manager for Indigenous Sports Week Abuja 2024, organized by Inside Nollywood and Dekaizen Worldwide Limited.

Amoo expressed his aspirations to become a transformative leader in the sports industry, inspired by role models like Patrice Motsepe, President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), who shares a background in mining investment and football administration.

The Vice-Chancellor of FUTA, Professor Adenike Oladiji, congratulated Amoo on his appointment, urging him to leverage his new role to advance sports within FUTA and the African university system while maintaining his reputation as a distinguished FUTA ambassador.
