The VC said the University has always wanted to make the campus green but the activities of stray animals have made it impossible, adding that with current fencing of the university, management has intensified effort to ensure that trees and flowers are planted across the campus.

The Vice-Chancellor Federal University Dutse, Prof. Abdulkarim Sabo Mohammed has flagged-off tree planting campaign and beautification of the campus as part of his plan for the overall landscaping of the University and fight against desert encroachment.

The VC said the University has always wanted to make the campus green but the activities of stray animals have made it impossible, adding that with current fencing of the university, management has intensified effort to ensure that trees and flowers are planted across the campus.

He said the University is encouraging the planting of Date Palm Trees, Neem and Moringa for both economic and medicinal values, adding that University has key into the vision of the late Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Nuhu Muhammadu Sanusi and the current Emir, Alhaji Hameem Nuhu Muhammadu Sanusi who are known for their advocacy of sustainable environment.

He said the second phase of the tree planting campaign will be anchored by the Dean of Students Affairs who will lead the students to plant trees across the campus.
