FULafia Governing Council approves promotion of 10 professors, 23 associate professors

The Governing Council of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) has approved the promotion of 10 associate professors to the rank of professor.

Also promoted were 23 academic staff to the rank of associate professor.

A statement issued by the Registrar and Secretary to the Governing Council, Malam Nuradeen Abdu, said that the promotions were ratified by the council during the 24th Regular Meeting of the Governing Council held on September 24 and 25, 2025.

Those promoted to the rank of professor include Dr Igono Joseph, Department of French, Faculty of Arts; Dr Muhammad Kabiru Dahiru, Department of Geography, Faculty of Environmental Design; Dr Dlama Zira Joseph, Department of Radiography, Faculty of Radiography and Applied Health Sciences; Dr Ogwola Idoko Robert, Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Management Sciences, and Dr Onwuka Jude Chinedu of the Department of Science Laboratory Technology, Faculty of Life Sciences.

Others are Dr Binin Etsuyankpa Muhammad, Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Physical Sciences; Dr Johnson Akinade Bamikola, Department of Physics, Faculty of Physical Sciences; Dr Ogah Musa Ari, Department of Political Science, Faculty of Social Sciences; Dr Charity Justin Takyun, Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences, and Dr Stephen Sunday Ojo of the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social Sciences

Congratulating the newly promoted academics, the Vice-Chancellor of FULafia, Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, expressed his hope that their elevation would result in strengthening the University’s academic capacity. He, therefore, charged them to work harder to justify the confidence reposed in them by the University’s community.
