FUNAAB Deputy Bursar Appointed Pioneer Bursar of Minaret University, Ikirun

Mr. Wahab Oloyede Azeez, Deputy Bursar at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has been appointed as the pioneer Bursar of Minaret University (MU), Ikirun, Osun State, a newly established faith-based institution owned by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Nigeria.

Mr. Wahab Oloyede Azeez, Deputy Bursar at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has been appointed as the pioneer Bursar of Minaret University (MU), Ikirun, Osun State, a newly established faith-based institution owned by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Nigeria.

The appointment comes as Minaret University prepares to fully commence academic activities following its federal approval earlier this year. Mr. Azeez, a seasoned accountant with over three decades of experience in university financial management, brings extensive expertise to his new role, having held multiple leadership positions in FUNAAB’s Bursary Department since joining in the early 1990s.

A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and an Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA), Mr. Azeez holds an MSc in Accounting from Crescent University, Abeokuta, and a BSc in Accounting from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma. He also earned his HND and OND in Accountancy from Ogun State Polytechnic.

At FUNAAB, he has served as Chief Accountant (Budget Implementation and Control), Coordinator of Final Accounts and College Finance, Principal Accountant in Payroll, and in various roles overseeing treasury reconciliation, expenditure control, and cash office management.

Beyond his professional duties, Mr. Azeez has actively contributed to community service, serving as Treasurer of the FUNAAB Muslim Community since 2011 and as President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Camp/Obantoko since 2019, reflecting the faith-based ethos of Minaret University.

The Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, expressed confidence that Mr. Azeez’s proven record in financial management and university administration will support MU’s goal of producing well-rounded graduates equipped for national development.

With this appointment, Mr. Azeez joins over 18 FUNAAB staff members who have assumed principal officer roles in institutions within and outside Nigeria over the past three years, marking another milestone in the development of Minaret University as it establishes key leadership positions ahead of full operations.
