A delegation from the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), led by Prof. O.S. Ayanda and Dr. Adebimpe Esan, visited the Africa Centre of Excellence, Obafemi Awolowo Knowledge Park (ACE-OAK Park) at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, to explore collaboration in ICT, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

In a strategic move to bolster innovation, digital technology, and entrepreneurship, the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has taken a significant step toward fostering collaboration with the Africa Centre of Excellence, Obafemi Awolowo Knowledge Park (ACE-OAK Park) at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife.

The visit, led by FUOYE’s Director of Innovation and Digital Technology, Prof. O.S. Ayanda, and Director of Entrepreneurship, Dr. Adebimpe Esan, was carried out under the directive of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi S. Fasina. This initiative aligns with FUOYE’s vision of becoming a leading hub for academic excellence and technological advancement in Nigeria.

Guided by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (SPRIL), Prof. J.O. Ogunwole, the delegation sought to explore collaborative opportunities and gain insights from ACE-OAK Park’s success in fostering ICT, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

Upon arrival, the FUOYE team was warmly received by the Director of ACE-OAK Park, Prof. Sola Aderounmu, who led them on a comprehensive tour of the facility. The visit covered key areas such as the Incubation Centre, ACE Design Studio, Lounge, ACE-OAK Garden, and the Telepresence Room, all designed to drive creativity and entrepreneurial growth.

Dr. Olusoji Ilori, Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at OAU, provided an in-depth session on groundbreaking innovations, including robotics, virtual simulations, and drone technology. Additionally, Prof. A. O. Oluwatope, Head of the Department of Computer Engineering, introduced the FUOYE delegation to product design applications, highlighting the role of 3D printing in fostering engineering creativity and design.

The engagement reaffirmed ACE-OAK Park’s role in advancing technological innovation and talent development in Nigeria. Speaking on the collaboration, Dr. Adebimpe Esan expressed optimism, stating, “We are hopeful for a fruitful partnership that will benefit both institutions. By working together, we can create an ecosystem that supports innovation and entrepreneurship, not just within our universities but across Nigeria.”

Prof. O.S.
