FUOYE Students' Union Disowns NANS Petition Against University Management
The Students' Union of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has disowned a petition submitted by the National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) to the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, alleging misconduct and requesting the sack of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Fasina, and the Governing Council Chairman, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba.
In a letter signed by the union's president, Abiodun Olorunshola, and secretary, Lateef Yusuff, the union described the petition as "misrepresentation of facts" and "grossly unrepresentative of actual events and dynamics within FUOYE." The union expressed confidence in the integrity and transparency of the investigative processes that exonerated the Vice Chancellor of allegations.
The union appealed to the Minister to disregard the petition, recognizing the FUOYE Students' Union as the authentic voice of the student body. They also requested that the Minister uphold the findings of the Governing Council's investigative panel and safeguard the university from unwarranted external interference.
