FUTA Bids Farewell to Pro-Chancellor Ambassador Nora Daduut as She Assumes Diplomatic Appointment

The Federal University of Technology Akure has held a farewell dinner in honour of its Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Senator Nora Daduut, following her appointment as Nigeria’s Ambassador to South Korea.

The event, held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, was organised by the university’s Council and Management to recognize her contributions to institutional growth, governance, and administrative development during her tenure.

Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji, described the gathering as a moment of mixed emotions, noting that while the university was celebrating a highly impactful tenure, it was also bidding farewell to a leader whose contributions significantly shaped the institution’s progress.

She commended Ambassador Daduut for her dedication, visionary leadership, and consistent support for academic and administrative development within the university system.

Professor Oladiji also highlighted the strong working relationship between the University Management and the Governing Council, stating that the outgoing Pro-Chancellor played a key role in facilitating approvals that supported staff welfare, promotions, and institutional advancement.

The Registrar, Mr Charles Adeleye, also praised her leadership style, describing her tenure as one marked by institutional stability, improved administrative efficiency, and enhanced staff welfare.

He noted that the Council under her leadership provided effective oversight that enabled smooth governance and sustained academic progress across the institution.

In her response, Ambassador Nora Daduut expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve, describing her experience at FUTA as both rewarding and memorable.

She commended the university community for its resilience, professionalism, and commitment to excellence, which she said contributed to the institution’s continued growth and reputation.

She further appreciated the collaboration of Council members, management, staff, and students, noting that the peaceful working environment was key to the achievements recorded during her tenure.

Goodwill messages from Council members, union leaders, deans, and principal officers described her leadership as impactful, inclusive, and development-driven, highlighting her humility, professionalism, and ability to foster unity within the institution.
