The Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMinna), Niger State, has secured the second position among Nigerian universities in the latest round of research grant awards by the National Research Funds (NRF), sponsored by Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND).

During the opening of a three-day workshop themed ‘The Application of Nanotechnology for Sustainable Development’, organized by the Nanotechnology Research Group, Africa Centre of Excellence for Mycotoxin and Food Safety at FUTMinna's Main Campus, Professor Faruk Adamu Kuta, the Vice Chancellor, emphasized the university's commitment to impactful research and innovation for national development.

In his remarks, Prof. Hussaini Anthony Makun, Leader of the Africa Centre of Excellence for Mycotoxin and Food Safety, stressed the importance of nanotechnology in driving development across all sectors. He commended the Vice Chancellor for his support of research and development initiatives.

Furthermore, Prof. Jimoh Oladejo Tijani, Research Team Leader, underscored the benefits of nanotechnology research, citing examples from countries like Egypt, Kenya, and Morocco. He appealed to government stakeholders to support the promotion of nanotechnology research in Nigeria, emphasizing its alignment with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.

The workshop, attended by distinguished scholars including Prof. Sabelo Mhlanga and Associate Prof. Olushola Sunday Ayanda, aims to foster knowledge exchange and collaboration in the field of nanotechnology for sustainable development.
