The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUT Minna), Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, has called on the 2025/2026 cohort of newly admitted students to maintain exemplary conduct and safeguard the institution's prestigious reputation.

The charge was delivered during a two-day orientation programme held on Friday, February 13, 2026, at the Sulaimanu Kumo Convocation Square.

Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Engr. Prof. Abdullahi Muhammed, the Vice-Chancellor highlighted FUT Minna’s standing as the 7th best university in Nigeria and 9th in West Africa. He noted that this year’s orientation is historic, welcoming the first set of students into the newly established College of Medical Sciences and Health Technology and the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

The Dean of Students Affairs, Prof. Bashir O. Ganiyu, revealed that 60% of campus hostel accommodation has been reserved specifically for fresh 100-level and Direct Entry students. He also encouraged students to utilize the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) to manage their financial obligations.

Key highlights of the Vice-Chancellor’s address included:

Zero Tolerance: A stern warning against examination malpractice, drug abuse, and cultism.

Facility Usage: Encouragement to actively use the university library, specialized clinics, and sports complexes.

Civic Responsibility: Lectures were facilitated by the NDLEA and National Orientation Agency (NOA) to instill discipline and legal awareness.

The President of the Students’ Union Government (SUG), Comr. Adadu Ezekiel M., assured the "freshers" of the Union’s support in navigating campus life. The event, which featured academic briefings from various Deans and Directors, concluded with a vibrant Taekwondo demonstration, showcasing the diverse extracurricular opportunities available at the university.
