The Vice-Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Olufemi Peters, has charged students of the university to be proud ambassadors and uphold the institution’s values wherever they find themselves.

Prof. Peters gave this charge during his recent visit to the Lagos Study Centre, where he addressed newly admitted students at their orientation exercise.

He encouraged the freshers to take full advantage of the university’s flexibility, technology-driven learning system, and the Federal Government’s student loan initiative, which is designed to support access to higher education.

Prof. Peters wished the students success in their academic pursuits and future endeavours, reaffirming NOUN’s commitment to providing quality and accessible education for all.

During the interactive session, students raised concerns about transportation challenges in parts of Lagos, particularly the Sangotedo and Ajah areas, and suggested the establishment of a new study centre to ease movement. The Vice-Chancellor acknowledged the concern and assured them that the management would look into the proposal.

Earlier in her remarks, the Centre Director, Dr. Alero Akujobi, advised the students to be ICT-compliant, noting that the university operates a fully technology-driven system that requires digital proficiency for effective learning.
