During the discussions, students expressed strong opposition to the fee increase, citing the financial strain on many undergraduates. The university management acknowledged the students' concerns and provided a detailed explanation for the adjustment.

After extensive deliberations, both parties reached a compromise, with the university making significant considerations in light of the economic challenges facing students. NANS officials apologized to the acting vice-chancellor and the university for previous public statements regarding his administration.

NANS commended the university's transparency and assured its support for GSU and the Gombe State Government in ensuring students' well-being. The university management reaffirmed its commitment to student-friendly policies and pledged to continue engaging students constructively on issues affecting them.

This resolution comes after NANS had issued a 78-hour ultimatum to the university to reverse the fee increment, which was considered ill-timed given the current economic challenges faced by Nigerian parents. The university's school fees range from ₦22,500 to ₦80,500 for new students and ₦25,500 to ₦72,500 for old students .
