Gombe State University Hosts 5th Induction and Oath-Taking Ceremony for Pharmacy Graduands

Gombe State University recently witnessed a momentous occasion as Dr. Mohammed Musa Zango FPSN FNAPharm chaired the 5th induction and oath-taking ceremony of pharmacy graduands on Thursday, 11th July 2024.

The esteemed pharmacy leader and seasoned administrator expressed admiration for the faculty management's commitment and hard work in organizing the event. Dr. Zango joined a team of distinguished personalities and professors in paying courtesy visits to the Vice Chancellor of Gombe State University, Prof. Aliyu Usman El-Nafaty OFR, before proceeding to the main event.

In his opening address, Dr. Zango captivated the audience with his statement, "Shake the person next to you and say, 'In brotherhood we stand.'" He extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guests, including the visitor to the university, His Excellency Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya CON Dan Majen Gombe, the Executive Governor of Gombe State, represented by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Habu Dahiru.

Dr. Zango commended the faculty and planning committee for choosing the theme "Embracing ICT in Pharmaceutical Care: A Transformative Approach to Addressing Global Health Demands," describing it as timely and apt. He congratulated the graduating students and offered words of wisdom and advice to the promising young pharmacists.

The pharmacy leader emphasized the importance of embodying the seven 7Cs principles of leadership: Competency, Confidence, Communication, Courageous, Consistency, Collaboration, and Chain (Network), all infused with Integrity. He urged pharmacists present at the ceremony and beyond to adopt these principles.

Other dignitaries in attendance included the Permanent Secretary Gombe State Ministry of Health, Pharm. I.M. Jalo, DPSs, university professors, commissioners, and executive secretaries across various government ministries and agencies, as well as hundreds of pharmacists and healthcare providers.

The event proceeded with the administration of the oath to the graduands and presentation of provisional licenses. Dr. Zango, alongside the representative of the governor and the Vice Chancellor of Gombe State University, presented awards and shook hands with the newly inducted pharmacists.

Notably, the Dr. M. M. Zango award for distinctive leadership was presented to Pharm. Aminu M. Bello, a true leader and servant of TZP Nigeria, along with other leadership excellence awards.

The ceremony concluded with a well-organized and decorated red carpet banner featuring Dr. Mohammed Musa Zango and the newly inducted pharmacists, where attendees took pictures. Friends, families, and well-wishers also joined in the celebration.
