Gombe State University Strengthens Strategic Partnerships with Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Gombe State University (GSU) is taking deliberate steps to enhance its position both nationally and internationally through strategic partnerships. On November 12, 2024, the Ag. Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta, paid a courtesy visit to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dunoma Umar Ahmed, Ph.D.
Professor Yauta expressed his vision of expanding GSU’s global reach by engaging with embassies, international organizations, and global agencies to secure grants, academic exchanges, and further support for the university’s development. He emphasized that under the leadership of Governor Alhaji Muhammed Inuwa Yahaya, GSU aims to benefit from national and international opportunities.
During the meeting, GSU outlined several key areas for collaboration, including strengthening international partnerships, securing scholarships and research grants, enhancing infrastructure, and supporting entrepreneurial initiatives. The Acting Vice Chancellor also proposed the establishment of an African Center for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to further GSU’s global mission.
In response, Ambassador Ahmed expressed support for GSU’s initiatives and assured the university that the Ministry would act as a bridge to facilitate access to relevant agencies and partners. He encouraged GSU to document its areas of interest to ensure targeted collaborations.
The visit concluded with both parties expressing optimism about the future partnership, with GSU expected to submit a detailed proposal for collaboration. This meeting marks a significant step in GSU’s mission to enhance international engagement and foster development opportunities for its community.
