Governor Lawal Urges TETFund to Complete Abandoned Projects at Zamfara Tertiary Institutions
He also noted that Abdu Gusau Polytechnic is facing accreditation issues that require TETFund’s assistance.
Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has appealed to the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) for additional support to complete several unfinished projects at tertiary institutions in the state.
During his visit to the TETFund headquarters, Governor Lawal emphasized the urgent need for intervention at Zamfara State University and Abdu Gusau Polytechnic, highlighting the numerous abandoned projects at the university in Talata Mafara Town initiated by previous administrations.

"Today, I am here to request additional support for certain Zamfara tertiary institutions. I visited Talata Mafara Local Government Area two weeks ago and saw the projects carried out by TETFund at Zamfara State University. Unfortunately, many projects have been abandoned by previous governments," said Lawal.
He also noted that Abdu Gusau Polytechnic is facing accreditation issues that require TETFund’s assistance. Governor Lawal lamented the multiple challenges Zamfara faces, including ongoing insecurity, unpaid salaries, and students unable to take their WAEC and NECO exams. His administration has resolved these issues and paid the outstanding balances for exams and overseas scholarships.

"We are here to seek your interventions, which will go a long way in rescuing the education sector," Lawal stated.In response, TETFund Executive Secretary Sonny T. Echono commended Governor Lawal for his achievements in his first year in office and assured him that TETFund would review the request and provide necessary support.
"I want to congratulate you on your one year in office and commend you for the work you are doing. We will review the request from His Excellency and do everything possible. Your diligence in addressing state issues is commendable," said Echono.
