Governor Yusuf Accuses Ganduje Administration of Selling Schools and Demolishing Classrooms for Shops
When my administration took over in 2023, about 4.7 million pupils were sitting on bare floors in primary schools across the state," Yusuf stated.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has accused the former administration, led by Abdullahi Ganduje, of neglecting the education sector. During a declaration of a state of emergency on education in Kano on Saturday, Governor Yusuf alleged that the previous administration sold some public schools and converted others into private shops.
Governor Yusuf also claimed that public school lands were encroached upon and repurposed for private business by the Ganduje administration.

"When my administration took over in 2023, about 4.7 million pupils were sitting on bare floors in primary schools across the state," Yusuf stated. "Rather than building more classrooms and providing basic furniture, as well as hiring more teachers, the administration we succeeded chose to butcher the land belonging to those schools, in some places demolishing classrooms to create space for shops. Those schools that they could not sell were closed down and vandalized."
Governor Yusuf condemned the actions as an affront to communal values and a direct assault on the commitment to public education.
