Graduates Encouraged to Apply Acquired Knowledge at FUTA's 33rd Convocation Juma’at Ceremony
In a poignant Juma’at ceremony held at the FUTA central Mosque on November 10, 2023, Dr. Musa Adebayo Idris, the Chief Imam of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) Muslim Community, emphasized the importance of applying knowledge acquired during the 33rd convocation ceremony. Drawing from the teachings of the Quran and Islamic principles, Dr. Idris underscored the profound value Islam places on the practical application of acquired knowledge.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Idris commended the Management and staff of FUTA for their significant efforts in producing skilled manpower for the nation. He highlighted that convocation ceremonies symbolize the culmination of learning, marking the acquisition of knowledge and skills. Quoting American writer Dale Carnegie, he asserted, "Knowledge is not power; applied knowledge is."

Encouraging the graduands to be focused contributors to societal transformation, Dr. Idris urged them to uphold the highest levels of ethical and moral conduct as guided by Islamic teachings. He also stressed the importance of projecting FUTA's image positively while embracing technology for self-reliance.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji, who graced the service, expressed gratitude for the words of prayer and encouragement. Professor Oladiji underscored the significance of unity as the foundation for the growth and development of any society. She urged the graduating students to apply their acquired knowledge both in and out of the classroom and to consistently represent FUTA in a positive light.

Professor Isiaq Amoo, Chairman of FUTA Muslim Community, extended gratitude to the Vice Chancellor for her presence at the Juma’at service. He offered prayers for wisdom and guidance as Professor Oladiji continues to lead the University with fairness and equity.
The ceremony served as a platform for reflection on the value of applied knowledge and the responsibilities that come with it, as the graduands prepare to embark on their post-academic journeys.
