IAHERI and MAAUN Organize Training on Artificial Intelligence for Political Engagement

The Institute of Africa Higher Education Research and Innovation (IAHERI) in collaboration with the Career Guidance, Training and Placement Office of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) recently organized a two-day training program for selected youths on Artificial Intelligence for Political Engagement.

The training, sponsored by Engr. Sagir Ibrahim Koki, Member of the House of Representatives, Kano Municipal Federal Constituency, aimed to empower youths with AI skills for effective political engagement.

The training program featured presentations from international scholars on topics such as Critical Thinking and Fact Checking, Digital Content Creation, Social Media Leadership, and Ethical Use of AI. The participants were equipped with the knowledge and skills to use AI effectively in political engagement.

The Director of IAHERI, Prof. Abubakar Sadiq Haruna, emphasized the importance of the training program, stating that it would make participants creative and innovative. The President of MAAUN, Prof. Mohammad Israr, noted that the program was designed to equip participants with AI skills to enable them to participate more effectively in the political process.

Engr. Sagir Ibrahim Koki, the sponsor of the training program, stated that the decision to sponsor the program was informed by his desire to empower unemployed youths to become self-reliant and contribute to the economic growth and development of Kano State. He pledged to continue providing his constituents with the much-needed dividends of democracy and assured his commitment to working with MAAUN to move the state to a higher level.

The closing ceremony featured the presentation of certificates and HP laptops to each of the participants. Prominent politicians and top government officials, including the State Commissioner of Science and Technology, Dr. Yusuf Kofar-Mata, attended the ceremony.
