Confirmation of the power reconnection was made by the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of UCH, Prof. Jesse Otegbayo, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan.

The restoration of power follows IBEDC's decision to disconnect the hospital's power supply on March 19, citing accumulated indebtedness as the reason for the disconnection.

In response to the disconnection, the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of UCH had directed its workers to operate within limited hours until the power supply was restored.

According to Prof. Otegbayo, the power supply was reinstated after the hospital made a substantial payment toward the outstanding debt. Although not disclosing specific figures, he emphasized that UCH had met the conditions outlined by IBEDC in the payment plan.

"The power supply was restored after we agreed on some payment terms. Not all debts have been paid, but we have adhered to the payment plan provided by IBEDC," stated Prof. Otegbayo.

Ms. Busolami Tunwase, the spokesperson of IBEDC, confirmed the development and highlighted the company's commitment to customer service. She noted that UCH had paid a little over 10 percent of the outstanding debt and that both parties had reached agreeable payment modalities.

"We have reached a workable payment agreement with UCH, and a significant portion of the outstanding debt has been settled," said Tunwase. "We trust that UCH will uphold their end of the agreement."
