Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University Mourns the Loss of a Promising Student, Adamu Fatima Muhammad

The management of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, has announced the sudden death of Adamu Fatima Muhammad, a 200-level student of Biochemistry in the Faculty of Natural Sciences.

The university community is in mourning, and the management has extended its deepest condolences to Fatima's family, friends and colleagues.

Fatima was remembered as a promising student known for her discipline, dedication and calm demeanor among her peers and lecturers. The university described her passing as a great loss to both her family and the university community.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mohammed Hadi Sulaiman, on behalf of the Council, Senate, Management, Staff and Students, expressed shock over Fatima's demise and urged her family to see it as an act of the Almighty Allah. The university has since offered prayers for the repose of her soul, wishing her family strength during this difficult time.

Fatima has been buried according to Islamic rites, and the university community continues to grapple with the loss of one of its promising students.

This recent announcement comes amid security concerns in and around the university. There have been reports of armed robbery attacks targeting students, which led to the death of another student, Abdulwahab Jafar, in June 2025. The Niger State Government responded by ordering the temporary closure of the university to address security breaches and ensure student safety.
