Igbinedion University VC Emphasizes Role of Inaugural Lectures in Knowledge Sharing
Prof. Olufunmilade highlighted the importance of placing appropriately trained personnel in Nigerian embassies and diplomatic missions to conduct intelligence activities effectively. He stressed the need for defense attaches to be selected from the Intelligence Corps of the military to ensure competence in intelligence operations abroad.
The Vice Chancellor of Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State, Prof. Lawrence Ikechukwu Ezemonye, highlighted the importance of inaugural lectures as platforms for sharing discoveries and academic insights. He emphasized this during the university's 25th inaugural lecture held at the school's auditorium in Okada.
Prof. Ezemonye noted that these lectures provide professors with an opportunity to showcase their research findings accumulated over the years. He emphasized the university's commitment to research, digitalization, and qualitative education as foundational elements of its academic mission.

The 25th inaugural lecture featured Prof. Olufemi Olufunmilade, a renowned Professor of International Relations and Strategic Studies. Prof. Olufunmilade delivered a lecture titled "Foreign Intelligence: The Means to Advancing Nigeria’s Security and Prosperity." In his lecture, he advocated for the deployment of foreign intelligence in Nigeria's security architecture to acquire necessary skills and technologies for self-reliant security systems and enduring economic prosperity.
Prof. Olufunmilade highlighted the importance of placing appropriately trained personnel in Nigerian embassies and diplomatic missions to conduct intelligence activities effectively. Additionally, Prof. Olufunmilade recommended the placement of economic and commercial attaches with relevant skills in charge of economic and commercial desks at foreign missions to promote economic prosperity.
He concluded by urging Nigerians to support national security efforts by reporting activities detrimental to peace and security, thereby contributing to human intelligence collection.
