Ilesa Varsity Vice Chancellor Assures Host Communities of Support for Nursing Sciences Laboratory Project
In a groundbreaking ceremony held on Saturday, the Ijesa communities came together to mark the commencement of the Faculty of Nursing Sciences Laboratory project at Ilesa University, Ilesa. The event was graced by the institution's Vice Chancellor, Professor Taiwo Olufemi Asaolu, who assured the host communities of the university's full technical support to ensure the timely completion of the project within the stipulated 18-week timeframe.

Speaking at the ceremony, Professor Asaolu reiterated the university's commitment to both the physical and academic development of the institution. He emphasized that his administration would actively engage in supervisory and monitoring roles throughout the project's duration, urging the faculty involved to closely monitor the progress of the work.
The Vice Chancellor expressed gratitude to the Board of Trustees of the University Endowment Fund, led by High Chief Akin Akinola, for their facilitation of the project, highlighting its significance to the university.
Furthermore, Professor Asaolu unveiled plans for the introduction of 32 new academic programs by the 2024/2025 academic session, pending approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC). These programs span across the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences and the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, covering various disciplines such as Physiotherapy, Sociology, and Public Administration, among others.
However, he emphasized the need for additional resources to support the expansion, including office accommodation, lecture halls, equipment, personnel, and funds for NUC approval processes.
Acknowledging the importance of public-private partnerships in fostering sustainable development, Professor Asaolu emphasized the role of philanthropists, private organizations, and development partners in supporting educational institutions' endeavors for quality education.
The Vice Chancellor also commended the support received from the Osun State Government, particularly Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, for various initiatives aimed at advancing the university's infrastructure and logistical capabilities.
In his address, Chief Akin Akinola, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University Endowment Fund, reiterated the commitment of the host community to the university's development. He highlighted the efficiency and fixed-sum nature of the Laboratory project, emphasizing the appointment of local professionals to oversee its construction.
Chief Akinola expressed confidence that the success of the project would pave the way for further interventions, ultimately realizing the collective vision of establishing a world-class University of Ilesa.
