IMAP Lafia Students Embark on Tourism Awareness Campaign
Students from Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic (IMAP Lafia) aim to enlighten the community about tourism's economic, cultural, and sustainable development impacts through a new awareness initiative.

Students of the Tourism Management Technology department at Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic (IMAP Lafia) have launched a tourism awareness campaign aimed at educating the public on the true meaning and wide-ranging benefits of tourism.
The initiative seeks to dispel misconceptions by promoting a deeper understanding of the tourism industry’s potential for economic growth, cultural exchange, and sustainable development. According to the students, many people mistakenly view tourism solely as travel and leisure, overlooking its broader impact on local economies, environmental conservation, and community development.
Through outreach programs, social media engagement, and public events, the campaign aims to:
- Clarify the definition and scope of tourism
- Highlight career opportunities within the tourism sector
- Showcase the rich cultural and natural attractions of Nasarawa State
- Promote sustainable tourism practices
The IMAP Lafia students are optimistic that this campaign will foster a new appreciation for tourism’s transformative power and contribute to the industry's growth in Nigeria.
