ITF Conducts SlWES Orientation for UNIDEL Students

Officials of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) from Warri Zone have conducted an orientation exercise for students of the University of Delta Agbor for the three hundred level students drawn from some faculties.

Prior to the exercise, the lTF team led by the area manager, Mr Otuene Ebirien, paid a courtesy visit on the University Management.

In his address, Mr Otuene stated that the orientation exercise was crucial to empower the students to have a seamless industrial training program.

He explained that the lTF responsibilities include training, reimbursement, consultancy and the students industrial Work Experience (SIWES) among others and enjoined the students to embrace the SlWES scheme as an important opportunity that would expose them to new challenges and how best to tackle them.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof Stella Chiemeke, in her response, commended lTF for its role in developing education through training. She disclosed that the University Management will strive for excellence by giving necessary support to the SlWES office in the institution.

The students were taught the appropriate use of the logbooks, documents, supervision, and monitoring during the orientation period.

They were also tutored on the importance of courtesy, work ethics, and good character as vital elements that would complement the SIWES program.

In a vote of thanks, the Director of SlWES, UNIDEL, Dr Rufus ljeh commended the resource persons for teaching the students all they needed to know before starting the orientation exercise.

Dr. Ijeh also appreciated the University Management for providing the necessary support for the event.

The exercise which took place at the 1000 Capacity Lecture Hall, main campus was witnessed by the Vice Chancellor Prof Stella Chiemeke, the Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof Patricia Mbah, the Bursar Mr Sunny Ikeogwu, the University Librarian Dr Mrs Vera Okonoko and a host of lecturers.
