Kano State Polytechnic Launches Skills Department Center to Enhance Vocational Training

The Skills Department Center (SDC) of Kano State Polytechnic, Nigeria, was officially inaugurated on November 3, 2025. The center is designed to provide training and certification in line with the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF), focusing on competency-based skills development.

The NSQF is a framework that organizes qualifications according to levels of knowledge, skills, and aptitude, aiming to standardize and recognize qualifications regardless of how or where skills were acquired. This ensures quality assurance and provides clear progression pathways for learners.

The establishment of the center is expected to boost vocational education and training in Kano State and beyond. It will certify the skills of artisans and enhance employability by aligning skills development with national and industry standards.

The announcement was made by Auwal Ismail Bagwai, Head of Public Affairs at Kano State Polytechnic.
