KHAIRUN Explores Partnership with Nigerian Correctional Service to Promote Rehabilitation and Reintegration

Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University, Kano (KHAIRUN) is exploring a potential partnership with the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) to promote rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates into society.

 

A delegation from the NCS, Kano State Command, visited KHAIRUN on February 17, 2025, to discuss areas of collaboration. Deputy Controller Ibrahim Isah Rambo, who led the delegation, emphasized the importance of equipping inmates with entrepreneurial skills, Qur'anic recitation, and morality lessons to facilitate their reintegration into society.

KHAIRUN's Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdulrashid Garba, welcomed the delegation and affirmed the university's commitment to the proposed collaboration. He noted that KHAIRUN's expertise in the identified areas makes it an ideal partner for the initiative.

The proposed partnership aims to develop an effective proposal that will benefit the inmates and society at large. This collaboration aligns with the NCS's mission to provide secure, humane, and efficient correctional services, with a focus on rehabilitation, reformation, and crime prevention.

 

By working together, KHAIRUN and the NCS can make a positive impact on the lives of inmates and contribute to a safer and more just society.
