KWASU Set to Host Workshop on Institutional Repository for Academic Staff
Kwara State University (KWASU) is organizing a training workshop on institutional repository for academic staff to enhance their capacity in using and managing digital archives of research outputs.
Kwara State University (KWASU), through its Centre for Research and Development (R&D), is set to host a training workshop for academic staff on the university's institutional repository. The event, which is scheduled for Wednesday, September 11, 2024, will take place at the Mini Convocation Arena, starting at 10:00 AM.
Themed "Institutional Repository: Prospects and Challenges for Academics and Institutions," the workshop aims to address the growing importance of institutional repositories in academic environments. It will also explore the opportunities and challenges faced by universities in maintaining digital archives of research outputs and academic work.
The Vice Chancellor of KWASU, Prof. Shaykh Luqman Jimoh, will serve as the Chief Host, while the University Librarian, Prof. Abdulsalam A. Salman, will co-host the event. The Director of KWASU’s Centre for Research and Development, Prof. Abdul Kabir Hussain Solihu, is the official host of the program.
A keynote presentation will be delivered by Dr. Ibrahim Abdullahi, the Director of ICT at Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, who will provide insights into the role of institutional repositories in academic growth and the technological requirements necessary for successful implementation.
The training workshop is expected to enhance the capacity of academic staff in using and managing institutional repositories, which are essential for improving research visibility, promoting collaboration, and preserving institutional memory.
