The city of Lagos came alive as members of the Ajayi Crowther University (ACU) Lagos Alumni hosted the institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebunoluwa Oduwole, and members of the university management team in a high-level engagement focused on alumni mobilisation and institutional development.

The gathering, described as a robust networking and strategic dialogue session, brought together graduates of the university in Lagos to explore actionable pathways for strengthening their contribution to their alma mater.
Addressing the large turnout of alumni, Prof. Oduwole emphasised the critical role former students play in the growth and sustainability of the university. She stated that no institution can achieve meaningful progress without active participation from its alumni community.
“The purpose of this gathering is to interact and engage,” she said, urging alumni to consciously integrate ACU into their professional and personal development strategies.
She further reiterated that alumni engagement has remained a central priority since she assumed office, noting that structured collaboration with graduates is key to expanding the university’s impact.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Afolake Olanbiwonninu; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Prof. Olukayode Binoyu; Registrar, Dr. Bode Olofinmuagun; Bursar, Dr. Ayodele Olusanwo; and University Librarian, Dr. Bose Ajiboye, also addressed the gathering. They collectively stressed the importance of alumni participation in university governance and development, urging graduates not to disconnect from their institutional roots.

They noted that the Vice-Chancellor remains deeply committed to improving the university’s standing and called on the Lagos alumni to align with the current administration’s developmental agenda.
“Ajayi Crowther University is growing under Prof. Oduwole,” they stated in unison, encouraging the alumni to grow alongside the institution.
In their responses, several alumni speakers commended the Vice-Chancellor for personally attending the engagement, describing the initiative as historic and impactful. They expressed appreciation for the role ACU played in shaping their academic and professional journeys and pledged renewed commitment to supporting the university.
The discussions produced key proposals for potential intervention projects, including the construction of a befitting guest house, the establishment of a microfinance bank for ACU, and the creation of ACU Business Schools. Alumni participants also indicated willingness to contribute across multiple areas to transform the proposals into tangible outcomes.

The engagement is expected to further strengthen the relationship between Ajayi Crowther University and its alumni network, with both the Lagos and Ibadan chapters encouraged to deepen participation in ongoing development efforts aimed at advancing the institution’s profile locally and internationally.
