Lagos State Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment Seeks Partnership with Lagos State University of Education
On Thursday, 27 November 2025, the Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Wealth Creation and Employment, Ambassador Tijani Saheed Oluwadare, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Multimedia Complex of the Vice‑Chancellor’s Office at Lagos State University of Education (LASUED).
The Vice‑Chancellor, Professor Bidemi Bilkis Lafiaji‑Okuneye — represented by Deputy Vice‑Chancellor (Administration) Professor Shittu Morufudeen Adeniyi — warmly welcomed the visitors.
Professor Adeniyi briefed the delegation on LASUED’s transformation from a college to a full‑fledged university on 2 February 2022, noting the institution’s 100 percent success rate in the recent National Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation exercise. He affirmed the university’s readiness to partner with the Ministry, stressing that “our Vice‑Chancellor is deeply passionate about students’ entrepreneurship” and that “we want our students to be self‑reliant… rather than depending solely on white‑collar jobs.” He added that LASUED students are already well‑groomed in entrepreneurial skills and that the collaboration would further strengthen their capacity.
Ambassador Oluwadare commended LASUED’s “visible developmental strides” under Professor Lafiaji‑Okuneye’s “progressive and visionary” leadership. He explained that the visit aimed to explore collaborative avenues benefiting young people — particularly LASUED students — by harmonising wealth‑creation initiatives across Lagos State universities. The Ministry intends to promote self‑sustaining business opportunities through internship programmes during and after studies and has earmarked LASUED — a teacher‑training institution — for special job‑creation initiatives. He announced plans to establish a Job Creation Centre on campus as part of a broader scheme to set up similar centres in every Local Government Area and Local Council Development Area across Lagos State.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from Deputy Registrar Mrs. Sami Omolara, representing Registrar Mr. Akinfemiwa Opeoluwa.
