The Lagos State University (LASU) Career Development Centre has announced the launch of an Externship programme aimed at providing students with professional experience to boost their job outcomes post-graduation.
The programme, organized by Extern, offers students the opportunity to gain valuable professional experience at any time. Extern's mission is to assist students in discovering and launching their careers through flexible and accessible professional experiences.
By introducing a new form of work experience with integrated learning, known as the remote Externship, students can engage in structured work experiences that are tailored to their schedules and needs. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world work experience, ultimately enhancing students' employability and job readiness.

The Externship programme benefits both students and organizations. For students, it provides structured work experiences that are flexible and accessible, while for companies, it offers expert-led project teams to undertake meaningful work without the complexities of staffing, setup, and support. Additionally, in higher education, Externships serve as the work experience component of the curriculum, designed to prepare students for successful careers after graduation.
