LASU to Host 8th Research and Innovation Fair Focused on Artificial Intelligence and National Development

The Directorate of Research Management and Innovation at Lagos State University (LASU), under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Distinguished Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, is set to convene the 8th LASU Research and Innovation Fair, bringing together scholars, innovators, policymakers, students, and industry experts.

The Directorate of Research Management and Innovation at Lagos State University (LASU), under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Distinguished Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, is set to convene the 8th LASU Research and Innovation Fair, bringing together scholars, innovators, policymakers, students, and industry experts.

The event is designed to advance intellectual engagement and practical innovation discussions centered on the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in national development.

The theme of the fair is “Accelerating National Development through Artificial Intelligence-Driven Research and Innovation.”

The sub-themes are:

  1. Opportunities, risks, and ethical use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in teaching and research
  2. Artificial Intelligence (AI) in agriculture, healthcare, energy, and human resources
  3. Harnessing Artificial Intelligence (AI) in security, safety, and policy transformation

The event will hold on Tuesday, 8th September 2026 and Wednesday, 9th September 2026 at the Aderemi Makanjuola Lecture Theatre, LASU Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos.

The Chairman of the Occasion is Mr Babatunde Ogala, SAN, OFR, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council, Lagos State University.

The keynote speaker and special guest is His Excellency (Dr) Kadri O. Hamzat, PhD, Deputy Governor of Lagos State.

  • Postgraduate students: ₦15,000
  • Staff/Staff-student participants: ₦25,000
  • Individual participants: ₦30,000
  • Online participants: ₦20,000

Late registration begins on Monday, 3rd August 2026 and attracts an additional ₦10,000 charge.

The event will run in a hybrid format, allowing both physical and virtual participation.

Abstract submission guidelines require participants to submit a one-page abstract of not more than 300 words on the theme or sub-themes in MS Word format. Submissions must be structured into objectives, methods, results, and conclusion.

Abstract submission is to be done via https://lasu.edu.ng/2026researchinnovationfair/ with a deadline of Friday, 31st July 2026.

Participants are also required to register via https://lasu.edu.ng/2025researchinnovationfair, noting that payment and verification must be completed before abstract submission. Only individual registration and payment are allowed.
