Drawing attention to Nigeria's alarming road accident rates, Prof. Odewumi stressed the urgent need for a professionally managed ministry dedicated to road transport. He believes that such an initiative could significantly improve economic growth and human survival rates by addressing safety concerns and enhancing operational efficiency.

"To reverse Nigeria's unenviable position of having the highest rate of road accidents globally, the Federal Government must consider the establishment of a dedicated Road Transport Authority," Prof. Odewumi asserted.
