LASUTH Launches Advanced Professional Diploma Programme in Hospital Administration
LASUTH has launched an Advanced Professional Diploma Programme in Hospital Administration and Management, addressing gaps in healthcare administration expertise. Inaugurated in Ikeja, the programme aims to enhance career progression for hospital administrators and aligns with Lagos State's goal of building a world-class healthcare system.

The Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) has unveiled its Advanced Professional Diploma Programme in Hospital Administration and Management, marking a significant milestone in healthcare education and management. The inauguration ceremony held in Ikeja was attended by healthcare professionals, administrators, and stakeholders.

Prof. Adetokunbo O. Fabamwo, the Chief Medical Director of LASUTH, highlighted the programme's importance in addressing the existing gap that limits hospital administrators' career progression beyond Grade Level 14 without a professional diploma. He emphasized LASUTH's commitment to excellence in tertiary health services and its dedication to establishing relevant training institutions.
Mr. Jenrola Olanrewaju, representing the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Lagos State, Prof. Akin Abayomi, and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Lagos State, Dr. Olusegun Ogboye, commended LASUTH's initiative. He stressed the alignment of the programme with Lagos State Government's strategic objectives to build a world-class healthcare system, emphasizing the need for continuous investment in human capital development.
Mrs. Olubunmi Fabamwo, Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, lauded the programme's inauguration as a significant step towards closing the professionalization gap within hospital environments. She highlighted its alignment with the 2016 circular approving the professionalization of the administrative cadre.

Mrs. Busola Abidakun, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Establishment, Training, and Pensions, expressed joy over the initiative, pledging full support from her ministry to ensure the institute's success.
Mrs. Rosemary Archibong, President of the Institute of Health Service Administrators of Nigeria, described the programme's launch as an audacious move driven by forward-thinking leadership. She urged students to take the programme seriously.
The event also witnessed the presence of notable personalities, including Prof. Adebowale O, Adekoya, Director Clinical Services and Training (LASUTH); Mr. Jelili Oyekan, Director of Hospital Administration and HR; Mrs. Adebola Aina, Head of Nursing Services; Dr. Abimbola Bowale, Supervising PS, Lagos State Primary Healthcare Board; Prof. Olufemi Idowu, Deputy Provost LASUCOM; and Mrs. Ronke Famakinwa, Head of School, among others.
The inauguration of this diploma programme reaffirms LASUTH's commitment to advancing healthcare management and fostering a culture of continuous learning in the healthcare sector.
