The Nanotechnology Research Group (NANO+) of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) recently hosted its inaugural international conference on the economic potentials of kola plants, underscoring its commitment to advancing nanotechnology in Nigeria. In an exclusive interview, Prof. Lateef Agbaje, head of NANO+, reflected on the group's decade-long journey and LAUTECH's pivotal role in nanotechnology research within the country.

Established in September 2014, NANO+ has grown from its founding members in disciplines ranging from botany to mechanical engineering, now comprising specialists from physics, biochemistry, and more. Prof. Agbaje highlighted the group's resilience amidst challenges, emphasizing their significant contributions with over 170 research articles and the execution of three TETFund NRF projects.

"Our aim is to position LAUTECH as a center of excellence in nanotechnology R&D in Nigeria," Prof. Agbaje affirmed, noting the group's collaborations with international scholars and institutions spanning Egypt, Tunisia, South Africa, and beyond. He credited their efforts in elevating LAUTECH's standing in nanotechnology research nationally, culminating in recognition during the university's 14th convocation ceremonies.

NANO+ has also forged partnerships with industries and governmental agencies, organizing annual workshops and conferences since 2017, including notable editions in Abuja supported by the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA).

"We are proud to announce our 8th International Conference on Nanotechnology scheduled for November 2024," Prof. Agbaje announced, highlighting the event's significance in fostering global collaboration and innovation.
