MAAUN, BigTech Agency Sign MoU to promote Innovation, Technology

Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) on Tuesday entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BigTech Agency Limited as part of efforts to promote innovations and technologies.

The President of MAAUN, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr signed on behalf of the university while the Chief Executive Officer, Ahmad Sagir Koki signed on behalf of his organization.

In his remarks at the occasion, Prof. Israr said MAAUN, which was established in 2022, has over 3,500 students enrolled in addition to having all its 15 academic programs fully accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

Also speaking, the CEO BigTech Agency Limited, Ahmad Sagir Koki said the partnership between MAAUN and BigTech would go a long way in leveraging the strengths and resources of both organizations to create an impactful event that benefits students, professionals, and the wider community.

According to him, the collaboration would bring the Career Connect Expo (CCE) event to life at one of MAAUN’s event halls in addition to bridging the gap between talent and opportunities, empowering participants with knowledge and skills, showcasing innovations and technologies as well as enhancing academic and professional collaboration.

He noted that MAAUN which is renowned for its commitment to academic excellence and holistic student development, stands as an exemplary institution dedicated to nurturing future leaders.

Vice President Administration, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar stressed the importance of IT as it has brought a lot of benefits such as improved communication, increased productivity and greater access to information and knowledge.

He also stressed the need for the partnership in view of its mutual benefit as there are lots of young talents who lacked the platform to operate.

Also in his contribution, the Director, Institute of African Higher Education Research and Innovation (IAHERI), Prof. Abubakar Sadiq Haruna expressed happiness over the signing of the MoU and urged BigTech to come up with initiatives which the university could explore.

He assured that the university’s doors are always open for ideas that promote innovations and technologies to enhance research and Innovation for academic excellence.

In her vote of thanks, the Head, Human Resource, Hajia Maimuna Bello commended BigTech for its desire to partner with the university.

Dignitaries that witnessed the signing of the MoU included the Special Advisor to Kano State Governor on Information Technology, Yusuf Ibrahim Sharada and Special Advisor to Kano State Governor on Budget and Planning, Naziru Halliru and Engr. Bashir Garba, Head, International Office, MAAUN, among others.
