McPherson University Holds 14th Orientation Programme, Urges Freshers to Pursue Excellence and Discipline

McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State, has officially welcomed its newly admitted students for the 2025/2026 academic session during the institution’s 14th Orientation Programme, held at the Stephen & Hannah Obaro Multipurpose Hall.

McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State, has officially welcomed its newly admitted students for the 2025/2026 academic session during the institution’s 14th Orientation Programme, held at the Stephen & Hannah Obaro Multipurpose Hall.

Addressing the fresh students, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Francis Igbasan, charged them to approach their academic journey with purpose, discipline, and a commitment to excellence. He described McPherson University as “the home of champions,” emphasizing that success is achieved through intentional engagement with the opportunities and resources available on campus.

“This programme is designed to prepare you for your stay in the University,” he stated, urging the students to take advantage of the institution’s academic and spiritual support systems to build themselves into well-rounded individuals.

Reiterating the University’s zero-tolerance policy on indiscipline, Professor Igbasan warned against sexual immorality, drug abuse, cultism, examination malpractice, bullying, and all forms of misconduct. He stressed that the rules governing McPherson University are non-negotiable and that violations will attract firm disciplinary measures.

“Choose discipline daily. Let peer pressure bow to purpose. In this citadel of learning, character is as important as competence,” the Vice-Chancellor declared, drawing applause from the audience.

He also encouraged the students to participate actively in lectures, chapel services, student fellowships, and extracurricular activities, noting that these engagements would help shape them into responsible leaders and “true McU Champions.”

The orientation featured interactive sessions and presentations by principal officers and senior members of staff, who acquainted the new students with the University’s policies, values, academic expectations, and available student support services.

The event concluded with a renewed call for the new entrants to uphold McPherson University’s standards of excellence, discipline, and integrity throughout their academic journey.
