The CCTV Central Control Room and the newly built LASU Water Manufacturing Plant were among facilities visited on Wednesday 13th September 2023 as the 12th Governing Council of the University continued the ongoing tour of campuses with an assessment of facilities at the main campus, Ojo.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, joined the Pro-Chancellor, Sir. David Sunmoni, to lead members of Council and Management on an inspection of projects around the main campus with visits to the CCTV Control Room at the Babatubde Raji Fashola Senate Building, the nearly completed Main Library, the LASU Technology Hub under construction, the Faculty of Management Sciences complex, Students Hostels, the ACEITSE Building and the Faculty of Education Complex and Annex under construction. Other places visited included the ICT Hub, the Orelope Lecture Hall and Academic Resource Centre, the LASU Innovation Centre and TETFUND projects in the faculty of Arts. The Council members also visited the LASU Bakery and newly constructed LASU Water Manufacturing Plant, scheduled to commence operations few months from now.
The visit commenced at the Office of the Vice Chancellor from where the director ICT and member of the Council, Prof. Toyin Enikuomehin, supported by the Chief Security Coordinator, CSP Oluwole Ojo (Rtd) regaled members of Council with the workings of the technology-driven security architecture of the University managed from the CCTV monitoring room with eyes on strategic locations in the campus.
At the LASU Main Library visited during the tour, Council members were visibly pleased by the magnitude of the facility and gave kudos to the Lagos State Governnment for the edifice. The visit to LASU Bakery and the newly established LASU Water Manufacturing Plant also attracted commendations to the Vice Chancellor and her team.
At the end of the visit, which terminated at the Senate Building, members of Council were visibly satisfied with the rate of development ongoing at the main campus, with the Chairman thanking members for creating time to have a firsthand assessment of the facilities on the campus.
Recall that the periodic tour of campuses commenced at the Ikeja Campus, on Monday and would continue to the Badagry and Epe Campuses on yet-to-be announced dates.
