Minister Uba Maigari Commissions Ultra-Modern Entrepreneurship Institute at Taraba State University

The Honourable Minister of State for Regional Development, Uba Maigari Ahmadu, has officially commissioned the Ultra-Modern Institution of Entrepreneurship at Taraba State University, Jalingo.

The Vice-Chancellor of Taraba state university Prof. Sunday Paul Bako, alongside members of the management team, warmly received the Minister and his delegation, which included the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), Mohammed Goni Alkali, the Pioneer Chairman of the NEDC Governing Board, Paul C. Tarfa (Rtd), mni, Abdulsalam Y. Ahmad, Musa Umar, and Yashi Benjamin Wesley Tafida, among other dignitaries. Also present was the Commissioner for Special Duties and Humanitarian Affairs, Hon. Saviour Noku, who represented the Governor of Taraba State, His Excellency Dr. Agbu Kefas.

In his opening remarks, the MD/CEO of NEDC, Mohammed Goni Alkali, described the Entrepreneurship Institute as one of the Commission’s flagship projects in the North-East region. He disclosed that the facility comprises two conference halls, fourteen offices, two secretariat offices, waiting areas, and conveniences on each floor. He further revealed that the Institute is supported by a fully equipped ICT Centre featuring 50 desktop computers in the software laboratory and 20 hardware equipment toolkits in the hardware laboratory.

Additionally, a solar-powered 10,000-gallon overhead water tank was constructed at the Female Zenith Hostel to improve water supply within the university. Alkali noted that Taraba State University had earlier honoured Major General Paul C. Tarfa (Rtd), mni, with a doctorate degree, adding that the Commission decided to execute the project as part of its commitment to strengthening education and entrepreneurship development in the region. He expressed satisfaction that the project had become a reality and urged students to make optimal use of the facilities.

Speaking during the ceremony, Minister Uba Maigari Ahmadu commended Governor Agbu Kefas, the Vice-Chancellor, and the university management for their dedication to educational growth. He emphasized that the Entrepreneurship Institute has the capacity to nurture innovative minds capable of competing globally and encouraged students to acquire practical skills alongside their academic qualifications.

The Minister reiterated that the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains committed to investing in education and youth empowerment as a pathway to national development.

On his part, Hon. Saviour Noku, on behalf of the Governor, expressed appreciation to the NEDC for its intervention in Taraba State. He commended the Vice-Chancellor for his proactive leadership and formally received the project on behalf of the state and host community.

In his closing remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Paul Bako, stated that the new structure has elevated the Entrepreneurship Centre to an Institute comprising four departments. He assured stakeholders that the university would maximize the use of the facility to enhance students’ capacity, competence, and employability after graduation.

The commissioning marks another milestone in the ongoing development of Taraba State University, reinforcing its commitment to innovation, skills acquisition, and academic excellence.
