NBTE Initiates Accreditation for Six New Courses at Federal Polytechnic Wannue

The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has commenced the accreditation process for six new courses at the Federal Polytechnic, Wannue, located in Tarka Local Government Area of Benue State. Ogah Ngbede, NBTE’s director of Polytechnics Programmes, disclosed this during the ongoing evaluation at the institution on Thursday. This accreditation exercise, which spans two days, aims to ensure the quality and standard of the new programs.

The six courses undergoing accreditation include Business Management, Public Administration, Agricultural Technology, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Computer Science. The initiative underscores the institution's commitment to providing diverse and quality technical education options. It also addresses manpower shortages in various sectors and enhances opportunities for students in the region.

Mr. Ngbede emphasized the importance of upholding high standards in technical education. He stated that all the courses will be thoroughly inspected before any pronouncement is made. Additionally, he highlighted the significance of ensuring that the Federal Polytechnic, Wannue, is not regarded or treated as a second-grade institution.

Earlier, the rector, Tyover Ashinya, expressed confidence in the institution's readiness to run the new courses effectively. He assured that the Federal Polytechnic, Wannue, has the requisite manpower and infrastructure to support the six new programs. The rector reiterated the institution's commitment to continuous improvement and meeting the accreditation requirements set by the NBTE.
