Peter University’s chapter of the Nigerian Federation of Catholic Students (NFCS) was inaugurated during a convention held from August 29 to September 1, 2024. The event, hosted at the university’s Achina/Onneh campus, featured a Holy Mass and saw the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Chukwuemenam E. Umezinwa, honored with NFCS's Outstanding Status Award.

Peter University’s chapter of the Nigerian Federation of Catholic Students (NFCS) has been officially inaugurated during a four-day convention held at the university’s Achina/Onneh campus. The event, which took place from August 29 to September 1, 2024, culminated in a Holy Mass on Sunday.

The convention, hosted by the Onitsha Province of NFCS, saw the inauguration of Peter University’s new chapter and its first set of executive members. The Vice-Chancellor of Peter University, Prof. Chukwuemenam E. Umezinwa, was honored with NFCS's Outstanding Status Award for his support and contributions. During the event, Prof. Umezinwa blessed the new executive officers, encouraging them to lead with integrity and dedication, and offered his continued support.

The convention featured a series of presentations and discussions led by various speakers. Notable contributions included Rev. Fr. George Admiike on self-discipline, Rev. Fr. Francis Ude on the interplay between faith and skills, Rev. Sr. Paula Ude on financial management, and Rev. Fr. Charles Mmaduekwe on IT skills and the implications of AI technology.

In addition to the honors received by Prof. Umezinwa and Rev. Fr. John Mark Okafor, who also received recognition, awards were given to Rev. Fr. Religious Ezeokonkwo, chaplain of NFCS at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, and several past NFCS executive officers.

The convention, which also included sports and pageantry contests, concluded with a Holy Mass celebrated at St. Edward Chapel of Peter University, marking the formal inauguration of the university’s NFCS chapter.
