Nigerian Barber Sets Guinness World Record for Fastest Skin Fade Haircuts
The University of Ilorin where he is studying statistics, saw him complete each haircut in an average time of three minutes, totaling 14 minutes and 56 seconds.
Owoyemi Qudus Adebayo, a 26-year-old barber from Lagos, has broken the Guinness World Record for the fastest time to complete five skin fade haircuts. His impressive feat, achieved at the University of Ilorin where he is studying statistics, saw him complete each haircut in an average time of three minutes, totaling 14 minutes and 56 seconds. This surpasses the previous record of 18 minutes and 57 seconds set in 2022 by South Africa’s Enrico Springfield.
To qualify for the record, each haircut must achieve a grade 0 at the neck and back of the head, tapering at least three grades towards the top. Owoyemi used a minimum of three different clipper guards per haircut, adhering strictly to Guinness World Records guidelines.
Expressing his motivation, Owoyemi stated, "I decided to break this record because I sincerely want global recognition for my hard work and labor over the years." His achievement has been lauded by the university's vice chancellor, Professor Wahab Egbewole, as a testament to excellence and creativity.
This year has seen other notable hair-related records broken, including Helen Williams setting a record for the world’s widest wig. Owoyemi’s record-breaking accomplishment underscores Nigeria’s growing prominence in global record-breaking achievements.
