Nigerian Environmental Society Hails UNILORIN for making Green Campus

The Technical Adviser of the Nigerian Environmental Society, Niger State Branch, Shaykh Nuruddeen Lemu, OON, has lauded the University of Ilorin for its remarkably lush campus, describing it as the greenest campus he has ever seen in Nigeria.

Shaykh Lemu made this commendation last Wednesday (May 8, 2024) when he paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, in his office. He was at the University on the invitation of the Department of  Islamic Law.

The renowned environmentalist, who is also a founding member of the Regional Centre of Expertise in partnership with the United Nations, commended the commitment of the University to maintaining a vibrant natural environment.

Echoing the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) regarding the beauty and tranquility found in nature, Shaykh Lemu said, “Prophet Muhammad said there are few things that the eye doesn’t get tired of, among them is greenery, flowing water, and the face of a faithful person. It is heartwarming to see that the University of Ilorin has everything”.

The renowned Islamic scholar also applauded the culture of respect exhibited by the University, noting that “the level of courtesy displayed by the management of the University of Ilorin and the staff members of the Department of Islamic Law sets the institution apart from its contemporaries.”
