Odey described the New York bar exam as the most challenging test he has taken, citing the extensive content and time constraints. The exam comprises the Multistate Essay Examination (MEE), which tests six out of twelve law courses within three hours, and the Multistate Bar Examination (MBE), which includes 200 practical questions divided into two sessions of three hours each. Additionally, the Multistate Performance Test (MPT) assesses legal writing skills under time pressure.

Despite the rigorous preparation required, John managed to excel by leveraging courses taken at Dickinson Law School and dedicating intense study hours. His hard work paid off, resulting in a high score that allows him to practice in any Uniform Bar Exam jurisdiction, including Pennsylvania.
